This last decade I’ve had the privilege to write and produce music for some really beautiful films. It’s been my retribution to this magical world of cinema to which I owe so much. For I know very well that my life was forever changed by the work of masters like Tarkovsky, Truffaut and Kurosawa.

These are some samples of my music for film.

“HRA” (The Play) by Alejandro Fernández Almendras is a stylish French/Czech movie shot in Prague in 2018. A love letter to the world of theater, with an inspired cast and gorgeous cinematography by Inti Briones. For this film I also had the pleasure to produce and record music with the fantastic Zemlinski String Quartet at the legendary Smecky Studios in Prague.

Director Alejandro Fernandez Almendras had previously told me that he liked my arrangement and orchestration of Ravel’s Violin Sonata Posthume. He was determined to use it in the film and he did it in a crucial moment of the story, structuring a moving montage to the shifting orchestral colors. My main idea was to use contrast in order to highlight Ravel’s harmonic genius. Kladno, just outside of Prague, never looked better.

“Mi Amigo Alexis” was a box-office success in Chile and is still available on Netflix. It’s a engaging biopic about Chilean football-star Alexis Sánchez but also a story about hope and people’s love of the ¨beautiful game¨.

Writing and producing the score for ¨Mi Amigo Alexis¨ was a wonderful challenge as I had to write music that ranged from the epic to the intimate, from comedy to drama, from big orchestral cues to Chilean folk music.

I had the great honor to write and produce the original music score for Alejandro Fernández Almendras's "To Kill A Man", Grand Jury Prize winner at Sundance Festival in 2014 and Dutch Circle of Film Critics Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival.

Here you can see a trailer with the soundtrack's main theme and several reels from the film.
